In South Texas we do not have a long checklist to take care of when winterizing our homes, but there are a few things that you might want to take the time to check.

If you are lucky enough to have a home warranty, most companies will stop by and give your heater a winter check up. If not, it is good to have your HVAC contractor come by and check to make sure there are no leaks and service where needed.

Make sure to switch your fans to reverse to keep the warm air from the furnace moving

You will want to insulate any water lines and faucets that are on the exterior of the home. This also includes and water lines in the attic that are not covered by insulation.

To save money on your heating, you will want to take care of any drafty areas that allow the heat to escape and the cold in. Caulk around windows and weather strip around doors.

You will also want to make sure that you winterize your lawn as well. This will keep your lawn from getting weeds. Your lawn is one of your biggest assets when it come to selling your home. Curb appeal is everything and a nice plush lawn is a selling point.
